Actually, some career politicians are essential, but a representative democracy should look like the electorate (hence AWS and BAME shortlists). Additionally, those who have done nothing but served a party are less likely to hold it to account. Blair was an example, Cameron is another. I doubt they are the first, i'm sure such people have been around for a long time.

Because I believe power is more important to some than what the power is used for, therefore they are without ideology. to meBearded Socialisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17177734192167273165noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6759576862617076522.post-38492249176796544212009-07-25T21:02:07.420+01:002009-07-25T21:02:07.420+01:00Does being a politician from 15 mean you have no i...Does being a politician from 15 mean you have no ideology? I accept it does not give you the practical experience necessary but I think it is unfair on those who have worked hard for political parties all their lives to be branded as not-ideological, power hungry politicians.Robert Brownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6759576862617076522.post-24874949671967812792009-07-24T19:31:22.578+01:002009-07-24T19:31:22.578+01:00Can't quite see the Telegraph highlighting any...Can't quite see the Telegraph highlighting any of this.Julian Ware-Lanehttp://warelane.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.com
