Having read this, it seems that some people get all worked up about something when I personally don't care. As far as I'm concerned, if people want to marry, they can. Gay, straight or whatever I couldn't care less. My own form of religious tolerance: couldn't give a shit

Express on gay asylum
the Daily Express response is disgusting: http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-News/Newspaper-Front-Pages-Papers-On-Thursday-July-8-2010/Media-Gallery/201007115661155?lpos=UK_News_Left_Promo_Region_0&lid=GALLERY_15661155_Newspaper_Front_Pages%3A_Papers_On_Thursday%2C_July_8%2C_2010
so start going on about a judge saying "they must be free to go to Kylie concerts and drink multi-coloured cocktails, judge says" is disgusting
"Of course homosexuals across the globe should be able to live free from persecution but their right to do so should not take precedence in British law over the right of the British people not to have their country overrun by foreigners."

the homosexual homophobics?
i got my daily email from urban dictionary, which today contained reference to George Alan Rekers.
looking into the story, i was very disturbed to find out about "National Association for Research & Therapy of Homosexuality" and various associated groups. it's horrible that in this day and age some people still consider not being 'straight' to be a 'sin' or something that can be 'cured'.
sadly, i don't think for a minute that we in this country can afford to be complacent on the issue

Chris Grayling comments lose Conservatives gay support
The most surprising thing being that the support only fell by 5%.
I think it's disgraceful what Grayling came out (haha) with and his mindless attempt to both stick by what he said and go against it is typical of a Tory party not sure whether to stick or twist as they try to slime their way into office

The Tories' new Section 28 | Mark Simpson | Comment is free | guardian.co.uk
An excellent article that I wholeheartedly agree with. But that tends to mean the same thing.
Firstly the comparisons drawn between free-market liberalism and directing behaviour in certain ways is a classic right-ist paradox and shown up very well.
Now, I'm a lefty but not gay. I despise homophobia and attempts to change the way people are. I don't believe marriage is a wonderful panacea to cure all the world's ills just coz the Mail and Express say so.
I agree that supporting marriage through the tax system has an opportunity cost which is to punish those who aren't married, I don't think there can be any dispute of that.
And I agree that these proposals are wrong, though comparing them to Section 28 is, I think, over the top.
People should be free to fancy and marry who they want without the state getting involved. And if two homosexual people want to get married they should be able to just the same as two heterosexual people

Tories' gay views have changed, says Nick Herbert
It'll be good if we have a more egalitarian consensus in the UK.
It's also true that Cameron has opposed the egalitarian proposals made by Labour. Cameron is one leopard that does change spots

A gay non-racist pro-asian BNP member
Don't see this every day, a turkey voting for christmas.
I wonder if the BNP will beat him up. If they do, will he deserve it?
I say that because I think the BNP use violence as a policy. I think Griffin's attack on the generals as Nazis who should be hanged shows his true colours.
Anyway, quote:
"I am voting for the BNP, even though some of their policies could negatively affect my life - I'm gay and married to an asian, and the BNP want to get rid of civil partnerships and "inter-racial" marriages.
My partner will also be voting for them. One doesn't have to agree with everything a party says in order to vote for it. No party has every provided me with everything I want. My partner has no fear of forced deportation because that is not the BNP policy.
Why will be voting BNP? Because like the other 600,000 voters the BNP have acquired in the last 4 years, we are more worried about the failure of successive governments to stem the rise of islam in Europe than we are about losing some of our own civil rights.
Am I racist? Is my asian husband racist? Islam is not a race - there are white muslims. Once the BNP change their constitution, both my partner and I will become paid up members. As will many more people. The BNP's talk about "race" is foolish. And it will end. They can be nationalists and anti-immigration without using that idiotic concept.
All the people posting here saying the BNP have no sense of history should start reading some of the many books published in the last 5 years on the history of islam and the rise of islam in Europe. Then they will see that this is the number one political issue of our generation. That's why Geert Wilders party is the leading party in the Netherlands."

Daily Mail readers in 'Champion of gay rights' shock
There's a very nasty piece in the Mail today slagging off Stephen Gately headlined "Why there was nothing 'natural' about Stephen Gately's death".
And all the comments are slagging the piece off! Hurrar for common sense over homophobia

Homophobia
Does it exist?
Does the word in fact mean something it shouldn't?
Is a hatred of homosexuals mean that a different word should be used?
All this comes after Roger Helmer starting getting comfortable with the Tories new Euro-buddies. After his statement that ""homophobia doesn't exist", that "'Homophobia' is merely a propaganda device designed to denigrate and stigmatise those holding conventional opinions, which have been held by most people through most of recorded history", he's now saying instead that "it is just a propagandist word created by the militant gay rights lobby."
Long paragraph.
Now, I think it does exist. People geting attacked for their sexuality is wrong, for me. Same as colour, race, etc. etc. etc. Anything expect being a conservative really.
Labour have sprung on the attack. I think there is one party more receptive to non-hetrosexuals than the other, saying nothing of the Lib Dems in Bermondsey in 1983. A long time ago, so won't go in to that as I think the LDs have moved on. They are now well fair, as some of their campaign literature patronises. Still, the Tories may have the odd token, but I don't think they are the party of sexual equality somehow

Gay in the army
A good news story for today.
The military forces have apparently done very well in making the military a gay(/lesbian/etc)-friendly place for all to be.
Good on them.
You know when you're really accepted when there are dating sites aimed at you, like www.GayMilitaryDating.com and others

Gay bashing
Typical bloody Daily Mail. This article is nothing more than gay-bashing and it's disgusting. Why should people being open with their sexuality be so disturbing?
"having spoken to many youngsters about this, I'm coming to the worrying conclusion that Katy Perry's song I Kissed A Girl...increasingly represents the experience of a generation of girls who are happy and relaxed about public, same-sex sexual experimentation."
Why is this so worrying eh? Disgusting.
Typical Daily Mail in that the author is worried about the middle and upper classes becoming infected with this relaxed approach to their sexuality.
"'We know it's the kind of thing that would shock adults, so we enjoy doing it.'
Well, there's no doubt that adults, and particularly the parents of teenage girls, will be disturbed, to say the least. "
Anything which pisses off the Daily Mail is ok by me (within reason).
People should be free to do as they wish without fear that their sexuality will be seen as 'wrong'. If they are 'experimenting' then let them.
"One church notice board carried the slogan: 'I kissed a girl - and went straight to hell."
This made my laugh out loud.
