It'd odd, but i'm often to be found on the BBC Southend United forum, and there, as most places, we are more often known as The Blues than the Shrimpers. I agree there is an important aspect of heritage there, such as Arsenal being The Gunners, but I think The Shrimpers probably didn't pass a marketing test somewhere around 1999 and was pushed quietly aside, like the old Sammy The Shrimp costume
